“A barn is a sanctuary in an unsettled world, a sheltered place where life’s true priorities are clear. When you take a step back, it’s not just about horses – it’s about love, life, and learning.” At Beech Grove Farm we strive to develop horsemen in small sizes, too. We learn to be better riders and how to care for and groom the horses. We learn about the responsibilities involved, but we also have a lot of fun and make new friends. HOMESCHOOL PROGRAM We offer a twelve-week course in the Spring and an eight-week session in the Fall. It is open to children six years old and over. This is a rain-or-shine program, starting at 8:30 and ending at noon. Sunny days will be spent at the barn learning to take care of the horses and learning to ride. On rainy days we will be caring for the horses, their equipment, learning about feed and anatomy, and completing a craft project. This Fall, we will meet on Tuesday, with openings for ten participants. We need a minimum of six participants to have the homeschool session this Fall. We recommend that all participants bring a snack and drink for the mid-morning break. Participants are also required to wear heeled boots or shoes. Helmets are available for use. Sunscreen and insects repellent are advised. |
